More Able Students

We aim to offer a varied and challenging curriculum to all of our pupils but we do identify more able students through the use of prior attainment data.  We maintain, and regularly review, this list to ensure that more able students are making the progress they ought to be making.  The curriculum is enhanced by a wealth of opportunities aimed at these students.  We actively tailor these opportunities to support the needs and aspirations of our more able students.

A sample of the opportunities provided to more able students includes:

  • An annual residential trip to St John's College, Cambridge, to sample life as a student at one of the world's best university.
  • Science Live - the opportunity to hear some of the countries leading scientists talk live.
  • Engineering Challenges - various opportunities within college and with external providers such as Jaguar Land Rover and Mouchel Consulting.
  • Extra sporting support from Worcester Warriors (rugby) and Shropshire Cricket Board.
  • Ludlow Chef Competition for budding chefs.
  • Inspirational workshops with local artists and authors.

Please contact Mr A Kirk (kirk.a@communitycollegebc.org.uk) for further information on our provision for the more able students.

"It was an amazing trip and if you are given the chance to attend I would highly recommend it."
